DevSecOps Engineer (JHB)

About the position

Our client, a leading organization in the telecommunications industry, is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing the SAS Anti-Money Laundering (AML) solution, ensuring the platform remains secure, scalable, and highly available.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3–7 years’ experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
• Proven experience working within financial services, banking, fintech, or other highly regulated environments, with exposure to mobile money platforms being advantageous.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure and application environments.

Technical Competencies

• Strong hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and Azure DevOps.
• Solid Linux/Unix system administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience administering and supporting SAS platforms, preferably SAS Anti-Money Laundering (AML) solutions or SAS Viya environments.
• Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and ARM templates.
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability platforms, including Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent solutions.
• Sound understanding of networking concepts, APIs, system integrations, and enterprise architecture principles.
• Experience working with database technologies, including administration, performance optimisation, and troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience supporting M-Pesa or other mobile financial services platforms.
• Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), fraud detection, financial crime prevention systems, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Proven experience supporting SAS solutions within production and mission-critical environments.
• Exposure to microservices architectures, container-native applications, and event-driven systems.
• Relevant cloud certifications in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
