About the position
DevOps Engineer with deep knowledge of OpenTelemetry Framework, open source technologies i.e. Grafana (Tempo / Loki / Mimir), Prometheus and Nagios as tools required for a reputable global company based in Gauteng
- IT Qualification
- Experience in configuration/development of IT Observability solutions
- Deep knowledge/understanding of OpenTelemetry framework, open-source technologies like Grafana (Tempo, Loki, Mimir), Prometheus and Nagios as monitoring tools
- In-depth working knowledge of IT Infrastructure and Platforms - Operating systems like Linux and Windows, Networks, Platforms like Databases, Web technologies, and Cloud technology (AWS, Azure, Google)
- Experience in Shell scripting, Perl, Python and a higher programming language e.g. Java or .NET
- Experience with ITIL
- Experience in devops methodologies and CI/CD tools like GitHub/Bitbucket/Jenkins/Nexus/GitHub Actions
- Comfortable in using Git commands on Linux/Unix and Windows
- Agile Working Model (AWM) Team Charter
- Understanding of on-prem/cloud architecture concepts
- Adapt OpenTelemetry framework to build a customized IT Observability solution
- Continuous enhancement of an open source IT Observability solution based on the Grafana tech stack and Prometheus
- 2nd and 3rd Level Support
- Collecting of requirements related to new observability functions of the IT departments
- Creating and refinement of user stories about the IT Observability solution with regards to master solution
- Developing of new monitoring plugins and enhancements defined in user stories, together with providers
- Install, configure and monitor with Prometheus and install, configure, setup query and dashboard on Grafana
- Provide support in open-source monitoring space in general
- Responsible for all required documentation including Operations manual, security, test concept etc.
