About the position

Development Chemist
Area: Milnerton, Cape Town
Remuneration: R30000 to R33500 plus Medical Aid, Provident Fund and 13th Cheque
Overview: This role requires a hands-on chemist who can contribute within a polymer and chemical manufacturing environment, supporting product development, product optimisation, and technical troubleshooting.

Duties:

• Optimise existing product formulations to improve performance and cost efficiency.
• Develop and test new product formulations.
• Evaluate and test alternative raw materials.
• Provide technical support to operations, sales teams, and customers.
• Conduct laboratory testing and product trials.
• Troubleshoot product performance and manufacturing-related technical issues.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure product quality and consistency.

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related scientific field.
• 3 - 5 years' relevant chemical manufacturing industry experience.
• Experience in paints, coatings, adhesives, or related chemical manufacturing industries will be advantageous.
• Experience in product formulation, testing, and product optimisation.
• Experience supporting a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
