About the position

Our client, a leading private healthcare provider in the Pharmaceutical and Medical sector, is looking to appoint a Deputy Unit Manager – Theatre. This role is aimed at supporting the Unit Manager in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of the operating theatre, with a focus on clinical excellence, staff supervision, and patient safety

Job Description

  •  Manage the staff requirements of the Unit
  •  Conduct orientation and train new staff
  •  Evaluate staff performance
  •  Ability to implement and maintain standards
  •  Organisation ability is key
  •  Cope well in stressful situations
  •  Adaptable and flexible
  •  Do after hours call
  •  Attention to detail
  •  Manage nursing standards and in-service training
  •  Maintain a professional image and character
  •  Disposition towards quality and excellent patient care
  •  Enforce health and safety regulations
  • Accurate record keeping and management of stock

Job Requirements
  • Current Registration with SANC
  • Recognised Post Basic Qualification in Theatre Technique
  • At least five years relevant experience as a Scrub Nurse
  • Proof of indemnity cover are pre-requisites
  • A pleasant disposition and excellent communication skills
  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Own transport is a necessity
  • Knowledge and skill of Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Ophthalmology will be advantageous
