DEPUTY DIRECTOR - EARTH OBSERVATION 12 MONTHS FTC

POSITION TYPE Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months

JOB PURPOSE

• To support the design, development and implementation of policies and programmes that will meet the Earth Observations Data user's requirements in the implementation of the South African Earth Observation Strategy.
  QUALIFICATIONS
• National Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering.
• Honours or postgraduate in Remote Sensing or Geospatial Science will be an added advantage.
  EXPERIENCE
• Minimum three years working experience within Earth Observations.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
  JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  Earth observations Strategy review and implementation
• Engage user communities to develop user requirements specifications on Earth Observations (EO)
• Communicate the benefits of using EO for better decision making to relevant stakeholders
• Support the review of the EO strategy and other related matters
• Facilitate the implementation of the strategy through EO related stakeholders (e.g. SANSA, SAEON)
  Development and implementation of Earth Observation applications as well as Industry development
• Mobilise funding for proposals based on user engagements
