Debtors Controller

About the position

The Debtors Controller is responsible for the effective management and maintenance of the company's debtors book, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding accounts, accurate record keeping, and providing ongoing support to customers, depots, and management.

Key Responsibilities

Debtors and Credit Control

• Manage and maintain the debtors ledger.
• Follow up and collect outstanding debt from customers.
• Process and monitor customer credit applications.
• Handle credit limit increase requests.
• Hand overdue accounts over to attorneys and debt collection agencies when required.
• Allocate customer payments accurately.
• Process accounts receivable corrections as required.
• Calculate and process monthly interest charges on overdue accounts.
• Reconcile debtors and bank General Ledger accounts monthly.

Customer and Depot Support

• Handle customer account queries and resolve account-related issues.
• Attend to depot-related queries.
• Update and maintain customer information on file and within Sage Evolution.

Reporting and Administration

• Create and maintain new customer accounts on Sage Evolution.
• Maintain debtors statistics and records.
• Provide management with regular feedback on outstanding debtors.
• Distribute weekly age analysis reports to agents.
• Issue monthly customer statements.
• Calculate commission deductions relating to agents' cash accounts.
• Perform filing and general administrative duties related to the debtors function.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Previous experience in Debtors, Credit Control, or Accounts Receivable
• Computer literate with strong administrative skills
• Sage Evolution experience will be advantageous
• Good communication and customer service skills
