Debtors Clerk FMCG

Location: Cape Town
Employment Type: Permanent (6-month probation)

Job Purpose

To manage a large debtor's book for key accounts by ensuring timely collections, resolving queries, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a high-value debtor's book
• Capture journals and bank statements accurately
• Ensure collections are completed on time
• Monitor accounts for non-payments, delays, and irregularities
• Investigate and resolve customer queries efficiently
• Process customer invoices in the accounting system
• Handle claims, price adjustments, and reconciliations
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and statement distributions
• Manage retail portals submissions
• Maintain accurate filing and record-keeping systems
• Report on overdue accounts to management weekly
• Handle full function: invoice reconciliation payment

Key Accounts Exposure (Essential)

Experience working with major retail groups such as:

• Pick n Pay
• Shoprite / Checkers
• Vector Logistics

Requirements

• Fully bilingual (English & Afrikaans)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong time management and organisational skills
• Adaptable with a problem-solving mindset

Qualifications

• Matric (Mathematics & Accounting required)
• Accounting qualification (advantageous)
• Intermediate computer literacy (Excel, Word, Windows)

Experience

• 3 5 years' experience in a similar role (FMCG essential)
• Experience managing large debtor books (R100M+)
• Strong account reconciliation experience
• SAP experience (advantageous)

Working Hours

• Monday Friday: 08:00 17:00
• Flexibility required for overtime and occasional weekends
