About the position
Our client, a leading South African retail group, is seeking a DComm Solutions Engineer to join their digital commerce fulfilment team. This is an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Engineer who thrives on solving complex operational challenges within a fast-paced, high-growth eCommerce environment.
About the Role
This role applies Industrial Engineering principles across the full digital commerce fulfilment value chain — from order placement through to last-mile delivery and returns. You'll drive end-to-end process optimisation, systems alignment, and scalable infrastructure design to enable efficient, future-fit operations at scale.
The role has a dual focus:
- Process Optimisation — analysing and redesigning fulfilment and operational processes to improve efficiency, cost, speed, and quality
- Infrastructure Delivery — supporting the design, feasibility, and implementation of fulfilment and logistics infrastructure to enable scalable growth
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse current operational processes, workflows, and resource utilisation to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Design and implement process improvements to optimise throughput, reduce waste, and enhance productivity
- Collect, validate, and analyse operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and performance gaps
- Develop models, simulations, and forecasts to support planning and decision-making
- Support capacity modelling, workforce planning, and resource allocation initiatives
- Contribute to operational improvement projects, tracking progress and benefits realisation
- Support the design of space plans, drawings, and specifications for new and existing fulfilment infrastructure
- Manage execution of infrastructure changes across multiple stakeholders, providing proactive progress and cost feedback
- Support operations teams through go-live and stabilisation phases of projects
- Support integration of systems, tools, and technologies (ERP, WMS, OMS) to enhance operational efficiency, including requirements translation and UAT support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across operations, supply chain, technology, and property to align on challenges and requirements
- Present findings, insights, and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field (essential)
- 5+ years' experience in process optimisation, operations analysis, continuous improvement, or a similar discipline (essential)
- Exposure to data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar
- Experience in retail, logistics, supply chain, or complex operations environments (preferred)
- Strong process re-engineering capability — as-is mapping, gap analysis, and future-state design
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment and execution in a fast-paced environment
Key Competencies

- Clear, confident communicator who builds strong working relationships
- Strong planner who delivers quality outcomes and takes ownership of results
