We are seeking a hands-on Databricks Workspace Administrator to manage and scale our Databricks platform. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, governance, and tenant enablement, ensuring secure, well-structured, and efficient workspace usage across analytics, AI, and Generative AI teams. This is not a ticket-based admin role, it is focused on governance, enablement, and platform optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Databricks workspace administration (access, clusters, jobs, and policies).
- Implement and enforce governance, cost controls, and environment standards.
- Design and manage Unity Catalog (catalogs, schemas, permissions, governance models).
- Manage users, groups, service principals, and least privilege access.
- Support CI/CD and automation identity requirements.
- Onboard and support tenant teams; provide best-practice guidance.
- Troubleshoot platform and access issues; maintain documentation and runbooks.
- Build and maintain monitoring and alerting dashboards for platform usage, AI/ML workloads, and GenAI metrics.
- Develop SQL-based dashboards and usage insights across tenants.
- Support Hive/Glue and JDBC integrations within Databricks.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years IT / data platform experience
- 2+ years hands-on Databricks Workspace Administration
- Strong experience with identity, access, and service principals (2+ years)
- 4+ years working with data engineering, analytics, or AI/ML teams
- 4+ years' experience in enterprise or regulated environments
- Experience with Hive/Glue and JDBC integrations (2+ years)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Beneficial Skills
- Exposure to ML / Generative AI workloads (e.g., RAG, model serving)
- CI/CD and automation integration experience
- AWS or Azure cloud knowledge
- Experience building platform standards and self-service onboarding frameworks
