Data Intelligence Specialist

A reputable public-sector institution within the financial oversight and intelligence space is seeking a technically strong Data Intelligence Specialist to support complex investigative and analytical initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work with high-volume financial data in a purpose-driven, high-integrity environment.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for transforming raw financial and transactional data into structured intelligence that supports risk detection, investigative decision-making, and strategic oversight. The role requires a detail-oriented data professional who can combine technical capability with critical thinking.

Core Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and structure large, complex financial datasets from multiple sources
  • Develop and manage relational databases using SQL and/or SAS
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to identify irregularities and emerging risk patterns
  • Produce clear, insight-driven dashboards and visual reports using Power BI
  • Maintain strict data governance, quality control, and audit compliance standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to convert analytical findings into operational action

Candidate Profile

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or related discipline
  • SAS and/or SQL Server certification (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years' practical experience in data analytics or modelling
  • Strong programming and data manipulation skills
  • Exposure to financial or transactional data environments (experience within regulated or risk-focused sectors advantageous)
  • Confident communicator with the ability to present technical findings to diverse stakeholders
