Data Developer (Data Engineer)

About the position

The purpose of the Technical Data Developer is to aid and support the SAP Data migration process as required in project mode and will be required to develop data extracts and scorecards according to documented business standards and rules. The person will also support the data cleansing activities to maintain a high quality of data.

Responsibilities

1.Data migration support

• Assist with source to target mapping of fields and data, check that source extracts conform to specifications
• Help business users by reviewing and troubleshooting data errors
• Review reports and highlight issues for correction

2.Data cleansing and Reconciliation of Data

• Monitor, process, and maintain all data cleansing requests
• Assist BA and Business Data Analysts with troubleshooting data issues
• Assist with Extraction of Data Reports and Dashboards
• Assist with Reconciliation of Data to source systems
• Report and escalate data errors to the Data Manager and Business Data Analyst
• Participate in user acceptance testing (where applicable)

3.Data Extracts Analysis and development

• Proficient in SAP IS/DS and SQL to be able to develop data extracts, according to data extract criteria, within an SDLC framework
• Review data extracts for accuracy and completeness

4.System support and monitoring

• Propose modifications and enhancements to existing applications to improve their functionality and to address any issues that arise
• Setup batch schedules and monitor jobs for failures

5.Data Governance

• Provide input into the data governance framework, standards and business rules
• Ensure that data quality dimensions are accurate, complete, consistant and integrity are met for master data
• Detect and remedy data inaccuracies

Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, IS, or similar
• At least 5 years' experience in the complete Systems Development Life Cycle
• and/or similar data analytics experience
• Demonstrated experience in participating in data migration projects
• Must have a high stress tolerance and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• An innovative thinker and ability to solve complex problems
• Ability to recognise patterns and engage in high-level decision making
• Precise planning and excellent organisational/administration skills
