About the position
Our client, a leading Textile Manufacturing company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Cutting Room Supervisor.
Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for overseeing the cutting department and ensuring the precise cutting of fabrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute precise cutting of fabric according to specified patterns, measurements, and design requirements.
- Supervise and provide guidance to the team of cutters, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to production schedules and scores.
- Ensure cut sheets and other relevant documents are in order and updated timeously.
- Maintain high standards of quality by inspecting cut pieces for defects and ensuring accuracy in dimensions.
- Manage and track fabric inventory, ensuring materials are readily available for production.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of cutting machinery to ensure safety and optimal performance.
- Enforce safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Train new employees in cutting techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments, sewing, and quality control, to ensure the smooth flow of production.
- Escalate and communicate any challenges to the production manager.
- Monitor and control cutting department expenses, seeking opportunities for cost-saving measures.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to production, inventory, and quality control.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures and standards.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Any other duties that may be delegated by the relevant manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- Relevant industry experience
