Cutting Room Manager

About the position

Our client, a well-established workwear clothing manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on and detail-driven Cutting Room Manager to oversee and manage all cutting room operations. This is a focused production role suited to someone who understands efficiency, fabric control, and production deadlines within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily cutting room operations to ensure production targets are met
• Plan and manage cutting schedules in line with production requirements
• Supervise cutting room staff and ensure productivity and quality standards
• Ensure accurate fabric utilization and minimize waste
• Interpret markers, lay plans, and technical specifications
• Manage fabric issuing and ensure correct quantities are allocated to orders
• Monitor quality control throughout the cutting process
• Ensure machinery is maintained and operated safely
• Liaise closely with production, planning, and quality departments
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant cutting environment

Minimum Requirements:

• Proven experience in a cutting room supervisory or management role within a clothing manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of workwear or structured garment production (advantageous)
• Solid understanding of fabric types, lay planning, and marker efficiency
• Ability to manage a team and work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Good communication skills
• Hands-on and operationally involved leadership style
• Matric
