POSITION: Customs and Logistics Manager
REPORTS TO: Group Supply Chain Executive
LOCATION: Pretoria
Job summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Customs and Logistics Manager with extensive experience in customs clearance across multiple African Countries including South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, DRC, Angola, Mozambique and Namibia to lead our import and export operations. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and efficient logistics management. A minimum of 10 years of experience in navigating complex customs regulations and procedures is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customs Compliance: Manage customs clearance processes for locomotives, wagons and spare parts, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimising delays.
- Logistics Oversight: Coordinate transportation, dispatch and delivery of locomotive spare parts, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in customs regulations and update procedures accordingly.
- Financial Management: Manage costs associated with customs clearance and logistics, identifying opportunities for cost savings and demonstrating financial acumen.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership to staff involved in import and export operations.
- Performance Monitoring: Tracking and analysing logistics performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in African customs regulations and procedures.
- Strong understanding of customs compliance and risk management.
- Familiarity with customs declaration procedures and relevant documentation, such as the SAD 500 form.
- Financial acumen and cost management skills.
- Knowledge of trade agreements and incoterms rules.
Desirable:
- Experience in African road logistics and transportation management.
- Exposure to the rail industry.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Relevant NQF level 8 qualification in field such as logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade or customs compliance
