About the position
A South African financial services cooperative is looking for a Head of Credit and Collections to lead its credit granting, collections, arrears management and recoveries. The role reports to the Group CEO, carries five direct reports and around 72 people indirectly, and owns credit policy across the member lending book. What the client is weighting is ownership. They want someone who has run a lending book - its policy, its performance and its profit and loss - rather than someone who has advised on one. Where you have not run the full retail and consumer credit lifecycle end to end, depth on the collections and asset recovery side carries weight. The role is office based in Centurion, with limited flexibility for working remotely. CA(SA) is a hard requirement and applications without it will not be considered. A SAICA registration that has lapsed or moved to non-practising is not a barrier - the client funds reinstatement and your continuing professional development. You will also need six to eight years in banking operations, risk and regulatory compliance at senior management level, five to six years post-articles in a retail or consumer credit seat, and a valid Code 8 driver's licence. The package is cost to company with a short-term incentive, retirement funding, group life and disability cover, funeral cover, and funded SAICA membership and continuing professional development. In support of our client's transformation strategy, preference will be given to candidates from the designated groups.
