About the position
An industry-leading manufacturing group is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Credit Controller to join their high-performing finance team. This strategic role entails managing the company's accounts receivable and credit control processes to ensure timely collections, reduce bad debt risk, and strengthen stakeholder relationships. The successful candidate will oversee a book value of R150 million.
Credit & Risk Management:
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness and approve credit limits in accordance with company policies
- Manage the release of orders on hold following thorough credit assessments
- Continuously monitor overdue accounts and enforce proactive collection strategies
- Identify and escalate high-risk accounts, recommending mitigation plans
Accounts Receivable & Collections:
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate and resolve outstanding issues
- Ensure timely follow-up and recovery of overdue invoices
- Process and allocate incoming payments accurately and timeously
- Issue invoices, credit notes, statements, and manage intercompany allocations
- Manage daily COD accounts and process credit claims efficiently
- Monitor and enforce 30-day and 60-day, account terms in line with credit agreements, escalating where appropriate
Cash Flow & Reporting:
- Prepare, maintain, and update short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts
- Deliver regular reports on aging analysis, collection effectiveness, and risk exposure
- Assist with accurate month-end closing processes, reconciliations, and internal reporting
- Support internal and external auditors by supplying required information and documentation
Stakeholder Management & Compliance:
- Build and sustain positive relationships with customers, internal sales, finance, and operational teams
- Ensure compliance with company credit control procedures and relevant financial regulations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise credit control processes and reduce risk
Key Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification required
- Credit control certification or relevant financial qualification (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years Senior Credit control experience
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Syspro or similar ERP systems)
- Experience in the FMCG or Manufacturing industry (advantageous)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills- Strong organisational and time management abilities

- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships

- Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) within target range
