Job Description: Credit Risk Analyst / Credit Manager
3 months contract - Cape Town
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to review Africa & International customer financials, conduct comprehensive credit risk assessments, and recommend appropriate credit limits. This role will also identify when bank guarantee instruments are required, and work closely with our banking partners to facilitate and finalize such guarantees. The ideal candidate will balance commercial opportunities with prudent risk management, ensuring that credit exposure is effectively controlled while supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse the financial statements of the full customer base, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct detailed credit risk assessments and develop risk profiles for individual customers.
- Recommend appropriate credit limits in line with company policies and risk appetite.
- Identify situations where bank guarantees or other financial instruments are required to mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with the company's banking partners to facilitate and finalize guarantees or other credit support mechanisms.
- Prepare and present credit analysis reports and recommendations to management.
- Provide up-to-date knowledge of credit risk methodologies, trade finance solutions, and market best practices.
- Support the continuous improvement of internal credit policies, processes, and controls.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Professional certification such as CFA, CPA, CIMA, or a recognized Credit Management qualification preferred.
Technical Expertise
- 5-7 years of experience, with at least 2-3 years specifically in credit risk assessment/trade finance.
- Proven track record in financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment.
- Strong knowledge of financial ratios, liquidity analysis, leverage, and solvency metrics.
- Experience with bank guarantees, letters of credit, and other trade finance instruments.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and credit risk analysis tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Moody's Analytics, or equivalent).
