About the position
Our client is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their growing team.
This is a newly created position so the successful candidate will need to do everything from scratch. You will be responsible for all the costing, reporting, analysis and insights and be confident to engage with Executives. You will need to a self-starter who is confident and who can work independently.
Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening internal reporting capabilities. This position is focussed on analysing and managing the cost structures across various entities, departments, and projects within the Group, ensuring accurate reporting, informed decision-making, and value creation. You will work closely with leadership, drive financial clarity across a diverse Group and build impactful costing frameworks to inform strategic decisions.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting detailed costing and analysis across the Group
- Supporting the preparation of the management pack in collaboration with the Finance Manager
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards in all reporting
- Analysing data, identifying anomalies, and investigating variances
- Providing recommendations and value-added insights to the CEO, CFO and shareholders
- Contributing to process improvements and strengthening internal cost management practices
Requirements:
- CIMA qualification (or equivalent professional qualification in Management/Cost Accounting)
- Strong foundation in IFRS accounting principles
- Proven experience in cost accounting / management accounting with demonstrable costing exposure
- Aviation industry experience is advantageous
- Experience in internal reporting, costing models, and data-driven analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with ERP systems and comfortable handling large datasets
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to run projects independently, identifying cost drivers and recommending improvements
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings to senior leadership and stakeholders
