About the position

?? Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Cost Accountant to join our manufacturing operations in the Johannesburg or Pretoria area. This role is pivotal in driving financial accuracy, cost control, and executive-level reporting within a dynamic automotive remanufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead a small finance team and collaborate closely with production and stores to ensure financial integrity across all factory-level activities.
?? Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Diploma or B.Com degree in Accounting, Cost Management, or equivalent
  • Completion of SAICA/SAIPA articles (non-negotiable)
  • Solid working knowledge of IFRS

 
?? Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in remanufacturing of automotive components (e.g. engines, gearboxes, axles, starters, alternators, brake systems, fuel pumps, injectors, tyres, upholstery)
  • 2–3 years’ experience managing a finance team
  • Strong understanding of costing, production processes, and project management
  • Proven ability to compile financial statements, budgets, and bills of materials (BOM) in collaboration with production and stores
  • Advanced presentation skills for executive and board-level reporting
  • Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools

 
?? Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a small finance team within the factory environment
  • Oversee cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate allocation and reporting
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and budgets to executives
  • Develop and maintain BOMs for automotive products in partnership with production and inventory teams
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal financial controls
  • Support strategic decision-making through cost analysis and forecasting
