About the position

Role Title: Cost Accountant

Job Description: Our client is on the lookout for a Cost Accountant with a flair for numbers and a passion for precision. This role is a unique opportunity to become a pivotal part of a thriving business, ensuring financial accuracy and influencing profitability through insightful analysis and strategic cost control.

Responsibilities:
- Take charge of product and customer costings, and perform ad-hoc analyses as needed.
- Drive improvements in margin and cost efficiency to bolster profitability.
- Master the art of calculating production recovery costs and maintaining accurate BOMs.
- Coordinate inventory counts and tackle variances head-on.
- Champion strong inventory controls to maintain and enhance inventory accuracy.
- Dive into landed cost calculations for raw materials, ensuring inventory valuation is spot-on.
- Analyze material usage, minimize waste, and implement corrective measures.
- Develop and maintain reports to track performance and KPIs, providing valuable insights for business decisions.
- Support the team with budgeting, forecasting, and system enhancements, including training and SOP documentation.

Requirements:
- Proven track record with 1-3 years in financial or cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, ideally Syspro, and integrated systems such as barcode scanning.
- Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel (Pivot Tables), and familiarity with Power BI is beneficial.
- A valid driver's license is a must.
- Academic background in Bcom Cost and Management Accounting or a related financial degree. CIMA studies are a plus.
- Analytical prowess, exceptional attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
