About the position
A dynamic organization is looking to employ an Estimator / Cost Accountant with 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role with experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- Valid driver’s license & own vehicle
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience
- Advanced MS Office & Excel, Syspro
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis capabilities
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments with clients.
- In-depth Knowledge of Cost Factors
- Attend technical review meetings, when required, to gain a clear understanding of customer briefs for new projects
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, including materials, substrates, inks, coatings, dies, plates, finishing, labour, and related expenses
- Review and approve estimates prepared by the Internal and External Sales Teams in line with management standards
- Identify the most cost-effective production methods, considering machine capacity, run times, setup costs, market conditions, and sustainability factors
- Liaise with buyers, suppliers, and vendors to obtain pricing for raw materials, outsourced processes, and packaging components
- Work closely with Sales, Design, and Production teams to ensure estimates align with customer requirements and operational capabilities
- Prepare and issue formal quotations and tender documents within required timeframes, with management approval where necessary
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through efficient material usage and production optimization
- Maintain and update cost databases, supplier price lists, and production rates
- Support project handovers to ensure production teams fully understand job specifications and cost structures
