Cost Accountant - Earth Moving Equipment

About the position

A well-established global earth-moving equipment company supplying the steel and mining industry requires the above to handle all cost accounting functions working within an established financial team.
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is essential for this role.
• The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standards, and methodologies.
• Must have the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Computer literacy is essential with intermediate Excel (V Lookups) and good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for figures are essential for the role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Working in a team of finance staff handling various costings and financial functions for engineering products within the steel and mining industry.
• Preparing and managing cash flow and budgets as well as performing cashbook, debtors, creditors and other financial functions.
• Assisting and preparing various monthly reconciliations and management reports.
• Assisting with payments and receipts as well as preparing invoices and statements on a monthly basis.
• Assisting with inventory costing.
• Monitoring and improving product margins.  
• Conducting detailed analysis of manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labour, and overhead expenses.
• Analysing production costs and variances to identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Regularly reviewing and updating cost data to reflect changes in production processes, materials, and overheads.
• Monitoring actual performance against budgeted costs and providing variance analysis.
• Providing insights into cost trends, deviations, and areas of concern to support decision-making.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiency within the manufacturing processes.
• Working closely with operations and production teams to implement cost-effective solutions.
