Corporate Legal Manager

About the position

A well-established business is seeking to appoint a Corporate Legal Manager

The incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic legal support, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, and safeguarding the entity’s legal and reputational integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• A university degree in law (e.g. BProc/BCom Law or LLB) is required.
• A master’s degree in law or related field will be an added advantage.
• At least five years proven litigation experience.
• A minimum of five years in senior legal advisory or managerial role.

Required Technical Skills, Competencies and Attributes:

• Excellence written and oral communications skills.
• Working knowledge of, but not limited to the PFMA (and Treasury Regulations), Companies Act, POPIA (and related laws), Labour Legislation, Cyber Crimes Act, Property Control Trust Act, and all other applicable statutory and regulatory frameworks.
• Advice CEO and EXCO on strategic legal matters and organisational companies’ requirements.
• Ability to present legal advisory notes in business-friendly and use friendly language and to explain all implications to management
• Project management or contracts management using a Document management system such as SharePoint or similar.
• Strong labour law experience- to advice HR in all pertinent matters as well as to chair all disciplinary matters.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to Brand South Africa and Communications in particular
• Proven experience in planning and developing business plans that are sound with measurable
• Proven Leadership ability.
• Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
• Project management
• Thorough understanding of compliance requirements of a section 3A agency of government as well as Tender Regulations.
• Business performance measurement (strategic, operational and finance).
• Budgeting and assessing variance reports.
• Ability to work in a team and across functional teams and provide support judiciously.
• Advance ability to write legal advisory notes that are thoroughly researched and well presented.
• Reviewing legal contracts, drafting new contracts, MOU’s and SLAs as well as vetting.
• Legislative drafting and policy formulation.
• Compliance monitoring and reporting
• Directive and advisory in a specialist legal capacity.
• Uphold organisational standard and protocols (be a role model).
