About the position
Our client is a leading Food manufacturer and is looking for a hands-on Deputy COO to drive operational excellence, efficiency, and profitability across the business. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing production, supply chain, SHEQ, and commercial performance, with a strong focus on process optimisation, data-driven decision making, and margin improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive operational efficiency across manufacturing and supply chain
- Optimise production, inventory, and warehouse performance
- Implement KPI tracking, reporting dashboards, and data insights
- Lead SHEQ compliance and embed a strong safety culture
- Improve margins through cost control, SKU/customer profitability, and P&L oversight
- Support demand planning, procurement, and logistics optimisation
- Lead cross-functional teams and strategic projects (ROI-driven)
- Understanding, aligning and documenting the business plan by department with strategic alignment and configuration of KPI's to meet the plan
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Drive automation and system improvements (SAGE, reporting tools)
- Drive New Product Development projects by ensuring team collaboration
- Performing detailed market research on commodity and currency
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Engineering, or Finance
- 10-12+ years' experience in FMCG manufacturing (essential)
- Strong background in operations, supply chain, and production
- Proven experience improving efficiencies and implementing systems
- Strong commercial and financial acumen (P&L, costing, margins)
- Leadership experience across multi-functional teams
