The Role: Control Room Operator
As a Control Room Operator, you will oversee metallurgical processes using SCADA and CCTV systems to ensure smooth diamond recovery operations. You'll play a critical role in monitoring plant performance, detecting early warnings, and taking corrective actions to achieve production and recovery targets safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, operate, and control metallurgical processes on SCADA systems
- Conduct system operational checks, troubleshoot, and escalate issues when needed
- Track CCTV feeds to identify deviations, stoppages, and risks during shifts
- Check plant equipment levels and settings to ensure compliance with operational ranges
- Analyse plant readings and make adjustments to optimise efficiency
- Assist with metallurgical test work to improve processing and recovery performance
- Complete and submit detailed shift reports on production, delays, and incidents
- Ensure compliance with statutory, health, safety, environmental, and security standards
- Maintain accurate records and promote good housekeeping in the control room
About You
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a diamond mining environment
- Minimum 5 years of experience with SCADA and/or process control in DMS and recovery circuits
- Strong knowledge of processing plants, DMS, and recovery circuits
- Understanding of metallurgical practices and industry standards
- Knowledge of mining health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Exposure to CCTV and process control technologies (advantageous)
- Clear criminal record (security/police clearance required)
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office)
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to coach and support colleagues
