About the position

6 month contract available for a Financial Accountant / Manager based in Johannesburg.

Assistance is needed in addressing a backlog of financial audits, and preparation of audited financial statements.

• The role involves the following tasks the candidate is required to perform.
  
• The compilation of an audit file, including ledgers, reconciliation, schedules, and supporting documentation for sharing with the respective in-country engagement audit firm.
  
• Assist the auditors in the conduct of the audit as regards samples of documentation, reconciliation of accounts, and audit queries to complete the audit.
  
• Processing of adjustments to the management ledgers and audit adjustments and maintaining a working trial balance.
  
• Assist with tax computations and entries.
  
• Drafting of financial statements in line with IFRS and assisting the auditors with the final draft and issue of financial statements.
  
• Roll over each completed year, sign off, and tackle the next year.
  

The role involves a combination of working remotely and in the offices in Benoni with the project team for at least three days per week.




Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in financial accounting and auditing.
  
• Knowledge of IFRS
  
• Three to five years experience in financial accounting and dealing with statutory audits. Experience in dealing with African jurisdictions will be an added advantage.
  
• Experience with SAGE X3 or similar ERP systems in a multi-currency environment.
  
• Intermediate Excel skills in data analysis and preparation of financial statements.
  
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and willingness to get hands-on in compiling reconciliations and reliable working papers and schedules to assist in the efficient completion of the audits.
  
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills in a role demanding a high degree of patience and perseverance in working remotely with Auditors to get the job done.
