Construction Project Manager

About the position

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join a consulting engineering team specializing in renewable energy projects (solar, wind, energy storage, etc.). This role includes responsibilities as an Owner’s Engineer (OE), providing technical oversight, construction management, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in utility-scale renewable energy construction, project coordination, and stakeholder management.

The position can be based from the Cape Town office or the Johannesburg office. 

For the first 6 months you will be based on site to complete the construction phase of a renewable energy project in the Western Cape, thereafter you will be based in the Cape Town or Johannesburg office performing project management duties until the next construction project starts.
Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in construction management, preferably in renewable energy (solar PV, wind, BESS).
• Prior experience in an Owner’s Engineer or EPC oversight role strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of utility-scale renewable energy construction practices and standards.
• Knowledge of permitting, interconnection, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Proficient in project management tools and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel to and be based on project sites as required.

• Relevant certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), SACPCMP or ECSA accredited.
