Job Advert: Civil Construction Concrete Foreman
Location: Paarl, Western Cape

Salary: R25 000 - R35 000 pm

Are you a skilled and experienced leader in civil construction with a focus on concrete works? Our established civil construction company in Paarl is seeking a Concrete Site Supervisor / Foreman to oversee and ensure the successful execution of concrete-related civil projects.
Qualifications

• Passed Grade 12 / NQF4.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).
• Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in Afrikaans.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in civil projects.
• Proven ability to manage construction teams on pipelines, earthworks, roads, and concrete works.

Key Skills & Requirements

• Strong knowledge of construction methods (SANS 1200).
• Basic civil surveying and setting-out skills.
• Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to train and mentor upcoming foremen and laborers.
• Valid drivers license (Code EB or higher).
• Track record of delivering quality work within time and budget constraints.

Core Responsibilities
A. Planning

• Execute activities according to the weekly plan.
• Communicate the program with teams and monitor progress against targets.
• Report any problems promptly to management.

B. Labour Management

• Conduct induction of labor as per policy.
• Allocate and supervise teams according to the weekly plan.
• Ensure proper construction methods are used by the team.
• Maintain discipline, adherence to working hours, and evaluate personnel performance.
• Verify duty shifts, including watchmen.

C. Plant Management

• Monitor and ensure correct use of small plants, tools, and equipment.
• Plan and manage plant cleaning and daily refueling schedules.
• Report mechanical issues or downtime to relevant departments.

D. Material Management

• Plan and report material requirements according to project schedules.
• Oversee the receiving, storage, and quality control of materials.
• Implement effective loss control measures.

E. Cost Management

• Complete daily costing sheets and allocate correct cost codes for fuel and labor.
• Plan and manage teams to meet financial targets.

F. Contractual Management

• Ensure work quality adheres to contractual standards and safety procedures.
• Oversee quality control and testing of materials and work.
• Maintain clear communication lines with engineers and project managers.

G. Public Relations

• Build and maintain healthy relationships with engineers, clients, and the public.
• Ensure workers conduct themselves appropriately regarding company and public amenities.

H. Other Duties

• Perform other tasks or instructions aligned with the role and skillset.
