About the position
Our client is looking for a Compliance, Tax and Secretarial Officer to join their growing team. Reporting to the Group Financial Executive, the successful candidate will be responsible for various legal entities within the Group.
Responsibilities include:
Secretarial:
- Preparing company resolutions and obtaining signatures
- Maintaining resolution register
- Communicating with Company Secretaries
- Ensuing compliance with CIPC regulations
Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with local regulations (KYC, FIC, POPI etc.)
- Ensuring compliance with Banking requirements and reporting
- Ensuring financial policies and procedures are aligned with statutory regulations and best practices
- Assisting with bank administration
Taxation:
- Preparing and submitting tax returns including VAT, Dividend, Income Tax, and Provisional Tax to SARS
- Managing SARS correspondence, audits, verifications, and objections/disputes
- Managing access and updates to SARS e-filing profiles
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and assessing the impact on the business
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting combined with law or equivalent
- Professional qualification (CGISA - Chartered Secretary) is preferred
- Registered tax practitioner
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a large corporate environment
- In-depth knowledge of SARS systems
- Familiarity with South African compliance regulations (CIPC, FIC, POPI etc.)
- Advanced MS Excel skills
