About the position
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Compliance Officer to join our Implementation Partner Team. The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organisation adheres to legal standards and internal policies. This role involves assessing and mitigating compliance risks, developing policies, training staff, and monitoring the organisations adherence to regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices.
Responsibilities include:
- Advise business on best practice for compliance by ensuring the business is educated on the compliance culture and by creating awareness around compliance implication of daily duties.
- Ensure compliance standards are met, and risks are mitigated. Identify, define and agree on the regulatory universe applicable for each relevant Business Unit, mitigating risks.
- Conduct compliance risk and control assessments (CRA's).
- Test whether the business control is effective and adequate and ensure that business policies contain the right content addressing legislative requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders on findings of compliance risk and control assessments.
- Ensure that compliance risk is adequately addressed.
- Influence the enhancement of business processes and methodologies.
- Enable management to make informed decisions and prevent compliance breaches.
- Prevent compliance breaches and reputational risk from occurring, which could result in financial penalties.
- Address compliance risk.
- Ensure that stakeholder relationships are effectively managed.
- Promote and facilitate cross cluster engagement, manage and improve business efficiencies.
- Ensure awareness of business compliance status.
- Ensure upskilling and effective handover to relevant responsible persons.
- Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses.
- Educate self-regarding business, through engagement, meetings, procedures and policy awareness.
- Assisting in developing of policies, procedures, frameworks and tools with specific focus on relevant risk legislation, for the business unit.
- Define governance frameworks and ensure good governance practice within the business unit.
- Assess business unit's adherence to the governance requirements.
- Ensure the business unit operate according to required business governance standards through regular engagement.
- Help build processes and data assembly to ensure ease of audit.
- Manages the way information flows by researching, recording, and assessing data and information and by conducting compliance risk assessments
- Trains and educate other employees so that they are updated on any legal changes to compliance guidelines
- Act as a connection and liaison between the business units.
Qualifications (minimum required)
- Bachelor's degree in law, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or Masters
- Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in compliance
Competence, personal attributes, skills (required):
