About the position
Compliance Specialist with minimum 5 years' Operational Import/Export Compliance experience and a tertiary qualification (Accounting/Audit/B.Com Law or LLB) Import/Export Compliance, required to plan, coordinate, organize, manage and control performance of all compliance checks to ensure the company compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, corporate governance, systems of internal controls and applicable legislation.
Minimum requirements:
- Tertiary qualification essential - Accounting / Audit / B.Com Law / LLB
- Minimum 5 years' experience in operational compliance essential
- GAAP and IFRAS Legislation knowledge required
- Audit standard knowledge essential
Responsibilities:
- Sarbanes Oxley -plan, organize, control and supervise implementation and maintenance of control systems to comply with SOX
- Review and evaluate assessments performed and report accordingly
- Monitor execution of recommended corrective actions
- Legislation - identify changes affecting company operations and ensure compliance, report to management level
- Ad hoc investigations - Direct and manage special investigations
- Export regulation - enforce Export Regulations, coordinate flow and export regulatory information, audit and monitor compliance with export regulations, regular reporting to Export Regulations Committee, maintain access to Denial List and authorize documentation re check against the list, referrals to Legal department
- Global Compliance Program - oversee formulation and guideline structure to perform measures to prevent corrupt practices
- Review and evaluate regulations, manage plans and promote important matters re measures to prevent corrupt practices
- Provide instruction and advice in response to reports and enquiries
- Evaluate investigations re suspected corrupt practices and report to management
- Review Audits conducted regarding activities around enforcement of procedures to prevent corrupt practices
- Investigate and report on internal Whistleblowing instances
- Legal - Mitigate all legal matters, Legislation of Boad Resolutions, establish Social and Ethics Committees and ensure contract management is up to date, review rental agreements
- Procurements - assist with procurement activities by managing suppliers and reviewing best practices, implement policies, procedures and systems and oversee procurement spend to meet budget requirements
