Background:
The Communications Manager is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the communications strategy for the organisation Corporate team and partnerships. This includes production of communications materials, including writing, editing and design, managing social media plans, coordinating events, and engaging with local and international stakeholders. Engaging with the private sector to promote transformational change and the adoption of sustainable business practices, in line with the organisation's Mission and the Global programme Framework is central to the role, as well as supporting the Corporate Team with materials to ensure strategic, coherent, and compelling engagement with corporate partners and all other key audiences to further the organisation's mission.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and leads Corporate Communications including quarterly newsletter, updating shared platforms (including LinkedIn), events, social media and reporting.
- Maintains all corporate partner databases including Mailchimp and HubSpot
- Acts as liaison of the team with the organisation Communications and Marketing teams.
- Communications focal point for new and existing Corporate Partnerships.
- Develops and maintains communications and provides tools, guidelines and best practices.
- Provides communications support to projects e.g. Alliance for Climate Action South Africa.
- Provides communication support and communication benefits to Business Network Partners.
- Supports the Corporate team with PowerPoint slide decks for presentations in corporate meetings, events and conferences as well as communication guideline to protect organisation brand and reputation.
- Crafts key messages for target audiences tailored for various platforms to ensure consistent, compelling content.
- Monitors and evaluates communication activities and impacts.
- Leads on cause-related and licensing partnerships.
- Ensures that effective and strategic communication complements and strongly supports corporate resource mobilisation efforts, awareness raising and motivates behaviour change.
- Provides communications support for corporate events, webinars, meetings and conferences.
- Collaborates with partners and their communications teams to develop content and raise the profile of organisation's corporate partnerships work.
- Develops and implement communications strategies related to corporate partnerships and agreed communication benefits.
- Delivers on quality external communication content for external business audiences tied to key local and global environmental events and engagements.
- Contributes to the implementation and monitoring of organisation's strategic plan.
- Leads on delivery of compelling stories and events that reinforce organisation's work with the business community.
- Coordinates inputs for developing annual communications plans and budget for corporate partnerships.
- Plans and implement communications campaigns, including network specific campaigns such as Earth Hour, World Water Day, and COP
- Develops clear communications assets to support corporate partnership marketing, publicity, and fundraising.
- Leads on briefing and managing agencies for the design of reports and marketing collateral.
- Supports programme staff with the dissemination of key study findings for various business and external audiences.
- Develops and maintains excellent relationships and synergies in the organisation communications Network so that maximum co-operation can be achieved with relevant Partnerships teams at organisation International and in the Network

Requirements:
- A university degree as well as an in-depth understanding of communication practices.
- At least 5 years work experience in the field of communications in an international environment in the private or NGO sector.
- Experience and expertise in developing and maintaining relationships with corporate donors.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines timeously.
- Must be able to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects; must also be flexible and able to be a cooperative team player.
- Knowledge of environmental issues, conservation, and/or sustainability required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively interact and build strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Proven experience developing project communications, and social media.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional standards for quality and strong organizational/project management skills
- Excellent multi-media skills and familiarity with Canva.
- Experience working with remote teams.
- Ability to relate convincingly and credibly with peers in partner organisations.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work within a virtual network.
- Ability to conceptualise and implement communication tools.
- Adaptive, ability to work in a low structured environment and to reprioritise when needed.
- Familiarity with CMS.
