About the position

Calling all COMMODITY TRADERS with Agricultural background!
Experience & Track Record

• 3-5+ years' physical trading experience in agricultural commodities, ideally animal feed raw materials or grain/oilseed by-products specifically (soybean meal, sunflower oilcake/suncake, hulls, chop, bran, wheat/maize milling by-products)
• Ability to show a track record of trading a defined product/commodity with real margin accountability, not just execution support
• Existing relationships with either the supply side (crushers, millers, co-ops) or demand side (feed mills, livestock/poultry producers) of this market would be a strong advantage, given how relationship-dependent our trading is

Commodity & Market Knowledge

• Working understanding of crush economics (soybean and sunflower) and how meal/oilcake pricing relates to the underlying oilseed complex would be an advantage
• Familiarity with SAFEX pricing mechanisms and how local physical pricing tracks international benchmarks and import/export parity
• Understanding of South African crop seasonality and how it drives local supply/demand and pricing cycles

Trading & Risk Discipline

• Ability to operate within formal position limits, and credit approval tiers
• Experience managing forward-dated physical commitments and matching sales against purchases within a defined cover window
• Sound credit judgment

Commercial & Relationship Skills

• Strong negotiation skills, balanced with the judgment to know when a deal needs escalation rather than being pushed through
• Comfortable owning both supplier and customer relationships within their book, not just executing trades handed to them
• Ability to build and maintain trust with counterparties
