About the position
A well established financial institution is seeking to hire a Commission and Data Reporting Officer.
Your education and duties of the following will enable you to move forward in the screening process:
Education:
- National Education: Senior Certificate (Matric) required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Financial Management, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial services environment, ideally in an operations, reporting or revenue-related role.
- Previous exposure to or familiarity with business reporting tools or platforms is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the accurate collection, reconciliation, and validation of commission and AUA data across internal systems (e.g., Commsplit, Wealth Connect, Seed) and provider platforms.
- Prepare and distribute standard and ad-hoc reports, with clear summaries or executive overviews to highlight key findings and trends, to internal stakeholders (Advisors, GMS, management) ensuring clarity, consistency, and timeliness.
- Monitor and maintain CRM client, Commsplit commission and AUA data quality, proactively identifying discrepancies or gaps and initiate corrective actions with financial advisors or data providers.
- Review data workflows and streamline reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare and review process documentation, trackers, and reporting templates to improve reporting transparency and continuity.
- Take increasing ownership of regular reporting cycles and work towards independently managing reporting deliverables.
- Collaborate with advisor support, finance, GMS, and compliance teams to ensure alignment of reporting outputs with business and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in process reviews and participate in enhancement projects relating to data and reporting systems.
- Ensure advisor commission splits are correctly captured and maintained in alignment with signed agreements.
- Assist in verifying client and advisor information related to bookbuy valuations, onboarding, and commission contracts.
- Partner with the technical reporting/data analyst to articulate reporting needs and ensure correct business logic is applied in Power BI dashboards.
- Provide pre-validation of templates and reports used for decision-making (e.g., client list imports, bookbuy templates).
- Ensure all supporting documentation is version- controlled and accessible for auditing and financial control.

- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of advisor remuneration structures, revenue flows, and commission-based compensation.
- Process Discipline: Comfortable working with monthly cycles, checklists, and structured deliverables under time pressure.
- Familiarity with commission systems (e.g., Commsplit), CRM platforms, and provider data portals.
- Awareness of compliance and regulatory considerations in reporting.
- Advantageous: Exposure to Power BI, or collaboration with data/reporting teams on dashboard requirements.
