About the position
DBN000241 – COMMERCIALISATION AGRIC MANAGER (Joburg/Nelspruit)
Purpose of the Job:
To transfer & commercialize laboratory-developed hyperaccumulator plant technology into a stable and scalable commercial agricultural field operation within the critical metals/mining industry.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B Sc Agric, B Com, or Business degree
- At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in Commercial Agriculture
- Exposure to multi-site or multi-country agric ops – a distinct advantage
- Experience with non-crop, indigenous or wild plant production
Technical Competencies & Experience:
- Agricultural Operations
- Nursery & plant propagation operations
- Maximising field production – yield and quality
- Optimising Agronomy & Production practices
- Working with non-crop or wild plant systems
- Research – familiarity with trial result analysis & interpretation
- Biotechnology -transfer & commercialisation
- Agricultural Processing
- Risk & Biosafety Management
- Strategic direction
Behavioural Competencies:
- Proactive, resilient & able to adapt to a changing environment
- Able to work in an uncertain and evolving agricultural and biotech environment
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to engage & persuade at all levels - labourer to board member
- Ability to interpret and present field trial results
- Practical, logical & hands-on
Remuneration:
Competitive, market-related but dependent upon skills and experience.
