About the position
A well-established and growing insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Broker/Underwriter to join their dynamic team. This role requires a qualified professional with expertise in commercial underwriting and brokering, as well as fluency in multiple South African languages to effectively serve a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and underwrite commercial insurance policies based on risk analysis and company guidelines.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice on commercial insurance products and tailor solutions to meet client needs.
- Negotiate terms, premiums, and coverage with insurers to secure the best outcomes for clients.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Manage renewals, endorsements, and claims support for commercial clients.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to minimize business exposure.
- Stay up to date with market trends, products, and competitor offerings.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: FAIS-compliant and RE5 certification required. Relevant insurance qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial insurance underwriting and brokering.
- Languages: Proficiency in multiple South African languages is essential.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial insurance policies, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Client-Focused: Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
