About the position
The purpose of this job is to manage and administer client policies with advice to internal and external stakeholders
- This role involves working with selected Account Holders to optimise profitable growth from your allocated accounts. You will apply a range of underwriting, relationship management and business development techniques to optimise sustainable, profitable business growth. This applies to new and/or existing businesses. You will spend the majority of your time working with the brokers identifying, discussing, negotiating and converting new and existing business
- You will ensure that income and profit objectives are achieved with excellent customer service in conjunction with the strategy and financial plan.
- You will also develop and maintain relationships with insurers as well as support accounts by managing the credit control on each account
Renewals, Amendments, Enquiries. Building, managing and maintaining broker/client relationships
- Monitoring and ensuring retention
- Request, review and formalize quote from the market
- Upsell / cross-sell on each opportunity
- Providing telephonic/ email support to the client
- Dealing with general insurance and policy-specific enquiries [Copy of policy / Invoice or Statement request]
- Adhering to underwriting criteria [Binder Business] and Ensure Commercial Underwriting guidelines are met and managed to achieve targets
- Assisting in implementing solutions for improvement
- Raise premiums
- File all relevant documentation electronically
- Attend to the personal tasks assigned by the Brokers for whom you work on a daily basis. These tasks will include duties such as running the Brokers daily diary, making, confirming and rescheduling meetings and appointments and taking messages.
- Ensuring that the Reports and Drive folders are kept up to date
- Preparation and maintenance of client fleet lists, including vehicle values
- Preparation of presentations, quotations and client portfolio packs
- Assisting the Brokers in compiling reports and schedules
- Arrange travel details for Brokers from time to time
- Assist broker with administrative duties
- Ensure productivity targets are met
- Contribute towards and ensure continuous improvement in own and team performance
- Request quotes on specialized lines - commercial property, liability lines, and stock throughout
Education:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant Degree or NQF 5 Diploma (Preferred)
- FAIS credits (compulsory) for commercial business [Category 1.2]
- RE5 (Representatives)
- Fit and Proper
Experience / Skills / Knowledge:
- 3 to 6 years experience in Commercial lines Short Term Insurance within a Broker environment
- 2 to 5 years related work experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience of working with and building relationships with insurers
- Experience across a range of products
- Commercially minded
- Experience of portfolio analysis, management and reporting
- Financial Services regulatory environment
- Thorough understanding of FAIS
- Thorough knowledge of Commercial Underwriting
