Commercial Trade Manager
Are you a commercial dealmaker with a deep understanding of bulk trade, commodity pricing, and B2B buyer relationships? A leading manufacturer in the oils and fats sector is seeking a strategic Business Development Manager to grow its footprint across Southern Africa.
This is not a retail or wholesale role we are looking for someone who thrives in industrial, ingredient, or commodity-based selling. If you currently sell edible oils, food ingredients, agri-inputs, animal feed, or similar products to processors, manufacturers, or traders, this role was made for you.
Job details:
- Drive B2B growth across food manufacturing, agri-processing, and industrial sectors
- Develop high-value commercial partnerships with decision-makers
- Structure and negotiate bulk contracts with a deep understanding of commodity pricing
- Analyse trends in oils, fats, oilcake, and agri-inputs to inform trade decisions
- Work closely with supply chain and production to ensure client satisfaction
- Attend trade shows and represent the brand across commercial touchpoints
- Use CRM systems to manage pipeline, forecasting, and deal progress
Requirements:
- 5-8 years in B2B business development or commercial trade
- Proven ability to close deals with manufacturers, processors, or large-scale buyers
- Industry experience in edible oils, agri-inputs, commodities, or industrial ingredients
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Excel and CRM tools (margin analysis, pricing models)
- Valid drivers license with local and regional travel readiness
Preferred Backgrounds
- Food production (baking, confectionery, biscuits, processing)
- Edible oil, fat, and shortening sales
- Palm oil and oilseed trade (sunflower, canola, soybean)
- Commodity trading (grains, feed, agri-inputs)
- Industrial ingredient sales (non-retail FMCG, emulsifiers, oilcake, etc.)
- Cross-border trade within the SADC region
