COMMERCIAL MANAGER

This leadership role is ideal for an individual who thrives on building long-term client relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and delivering sustainable business growth within the engineering, manufacturing, mining, or industrial sectors.

Looking for an experienced and commercially driven Commercial Manager to lead business development, customer engagement, and sales strategy across local and regional markets. 

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a key role in developing commercial strategies, expanding market presence, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across South Africa and selected African markets.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop market penetration strategies aligned with business objectives and regional opportunities.

Key Account Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, OEMs, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Deliver customer-focused commercial solutions that strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Negotiate and conclude commercial agreements in line with company objectives.

Market Intelligence
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Provide strategic insights to support business growth and product positioning.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into new markets and customer segments.

Commercial Leadership
  • Collaborate with technical, production, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer service.
  • Support pricing strategies, forecasting, budgeting, and commercial risk management.
  • Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes.

Performance Management
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly commercial reports, sales forecasts, and KPI analyses.
  • Monitor business performance, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
  • Present commercial insights and recommendations to executive management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering, Metallurgy, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years' experience in a commercial, business development, or sales management role within the engineering, manufacturing, mining, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in developing new business and managing strategic customer relationships.
  • Experience working across Southern African or African markets will be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and sales reporting.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and develop practical commercial strategies.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.
