About the position
We’re currently seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to join a leading law firm based in Johannesburg North. This position is fully on-site.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced Litigation Department supporting a team of legal professionals.
The ideal candidate must have a background in corporate and commercial law, with experience in any of the following areas: Banking and Finance, Competition Law, Corporate Governance, or Mergers & Acquisitions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Dictaphone and copy-typing of a wide range of legal documents
- Formatting, compiling, and typing pleadings, notices, and legal correspondence
- Effecting and verifying amendments to legal documents
- Preparing and organizing client, counsel, and resource files
- Diary management and administrative support for multiple legal professionals
- Handling telephone calls, messages, and general office administration
- Preparing billing memos, pre-bills, and liaising with the accounts department
- Managing debtors in coordination with accounts
- FICA administration and follow-up
- Coordinating with clients, counsel, presiding officers, experts, and service providers
- Organizing travel logistics including flights, accommodation, transfers, and bookings
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a legal secretary (litigation focus)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word (2010+) and Excel
- Experience using Aderant Expert (CMS) and FileSite systems
- Matric is essential; legal secretarial diploma or paralegal qualification is advantageous, but highly preferred
- Exceptional organisational and multitasking abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

- Strong client relationship and time management skills
