About the position
A well-established engineering and precision manufacturing company in the East Rand is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join their team with EDGECAM programming experience.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years' experience as a CNC Programmer, CNC Setter or CNC Machinist
- Matric
- Advanced knowledge of EDGECAM (essential)
- Experience using CAD/design software
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling, turning and machining processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and tolerances
- Experience within engineering, precision manufacturing, mining, automotive or industrial manufacturing
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, modify and optimise CNC programs using EDGECAM
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models
- Generate and verify toolpaths for efficient machining
- Select tooling, cutting parameters and machining sequences
- Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists and program documentation
- Conduct program simulations and first-off inspections
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling and machining issues
- Improve existing CNC programs to increase productivity and reduce cycle times
- Work closely with machinists, engineers and quality personnel
- Maintain accurate CNC program records and revision control
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop
