Location: Lea Glen, Roodepoort
Job Purpose
To set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines to manufacture components accurately and efficiently in accordance with detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.
Minimum Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Practical experience in CNC machine operation and control.
- Proven ability to set and operate CNC milling machines.
- Good understanding of CNC machine operation and machining processes.
- Ability to monitor machine operation and identify potential problems.
- Ability to select the appropriate tools and equipment required for machining operations.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, offsets, and machining parameters.
- Ability to perform basic dimensional and quality checks.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime when required.
Required Milling Machine Experience
The candidate must be able to set and operate the following CNC milling machines, or equivalent:
- Hyundai-Kia
- Johnford
- Doosan
CNC Control System
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the CNC Milling Operator include, but are not limited to:
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines.
- Select and set appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, offsets, and machining parameters.
- Read and interpret detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and machining instructions.
- Establish workpiece zero/reference points and verify machine coordinates and dimensions.
- Position, secure, and accurately align workpieces using the appropriate workholding methods.
- Select and install the correct cutting tools and equipment for each machining operation.
- Monitor machine operations, gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure the machine is operating correctly.
- Identify and report machining, tooling, equipment, or quality problems.
- Use the correct cutting tools, coolants, and cutting fluids for the machining application.
- Conduct basic in-process quality checks and verify that components meet drawing specifications and required tolerances.
- Make appropriate machine adjustments and offsets within the required operating parameters.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the work area remains clean, safe, and organised.
- Ensure completed parts are correctly packed, identified, and labelled.
- Follow all company safety, quality, operating, and production procedures.
- Work overtime when required to meet production requirements.
