Cloud Optimisation Specialist - Azure at Datonomy Solutions

About the position

We are looking for a hands-on Azure FinOps & Cloud Cost Optimisation Specialist to support a targeted engagement focused on cost visibility, storage optimisation, and governance enablement within a complex, multi-entity Azure environment.

The role will focus on:

• Identifying and implementing low-risk, high-impact cost savings
• Improving cost allocation and tagging
• Optimising storage and telemetry (Log Analytics / Sentinel) costs
• Enabling practical, sustainable FinOps practices

Key Responsibilities
Cost Analysis & Visibility

• Analyse Azure spend across multiple subscriptions and services
• Break down costs by:
  
  
  
  • Storage, compute, SQL, monitoring
  • Resource groups and workloads
  
  
• Identify key cost drivers and optimisation opportunities

Storage & Telemetry Optimisation (Critical)

• Analyse and optimise:
  
  
  
  • Blob storage, managed disks, backups, snapshots
  • Log Analytics and Microsoft Sentinel ingestion
  
  
• Implement:
  
  
  
  • Storage tiering (Hot / Cool / Archive)
  • Lifecycle and retention policies
  
  
• Reduce:
  
  
  
  • Over-retention of logs
  • Unnecessary telemetry ingestion
  
  

Quick Wins Execution

• Identify and implement:
  
  
  
  • Orphaned resource cleanup
  • Snapshot and backup rationalisation
  • Dev/Test scheduling
  • VM rightsizing
  
  

Cost Allocation & Tagging

• Assess and improve tagging maturity
• Define and implement:
  
  
  
  • Standardised tagging model
  • Cost allocation logic across shared services
  
  
• Support automation of cost reporting

Reporting & Insights

• Build and configure dashboards using:
  
  
  
  • Azure Cost Management
  • Power BI (preferred)
  
  
• Provide:
  
  
  
  • Cost by country
  • Cost by application
  • Cost by environment
  
  

Governance & FinOps Enablement

• Implement:
  
  
  
  • Azure Policy for tagging enforcement
  • Budget alerts and cost controls
  
  
• Establish:
  
  
  
  • Cost ownership model
  • Reporting cadence
  
  
• Support adoption of practical FinOps practices

Technical Requirements (Must-Have)

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
• Proven experience in cloud cost optimisation / FinOps
• Experience with:
  
  
  
  • Azure Cost Management + Billing
  • Azure Storage (Blob, Disk, Backup)
  • Log Analytics / Microsoft Sentinel
  
  
• Solid understanding of:
  
  
  
  • Resource tagging and governance
  • Cost allocation models
  • Subscription and resource group structures
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience in multi-entity / multi-country environments
• Exposure to financial services or enterprise environments

  • Reserved Instances / Savings Plans
  • DevOps / CI-CD cost considerations
