About the position
Upper Highway - A Claims Manager is required to lead and manage the full short-term claims function within a specialist insurance provider. This role is focused on both personal and commercial lines with an emphasis on operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The Claims Manager will oversee the full claims lifecycle, ensuring fair and timely resolution of both personal and commercial claims. This role involves leadership of a team, managing complex and high-value cases, and maintaining audit and regulatory readiness. Strong claims governance, workload management, and client service are key components of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end claims process for personal and commercial lines
- Assess, approve, and oversee complex, high-value, and escalated claims
- Lead and support the claims team to meet service and compliance standards
- Plan operational capacity and manage workloads across the department
- Ensure strict compliance with regulatory and governance requirements
- Maintain accurate claims records and ensure audit readiness
- Develop and implement claims policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Oversee complaints, disputes, and escalations, including Ombud referrals (OSTI)
- Monitor claims turnaround times and service level agreements
- Collaborate with underwriting and finance teams to ensure cohesive operations
- Generate reports on claims activity, trends, and performance metrics
- Ensure a client-centric approach throughout the claims process

Requirements - Non Negotiable
- Matric qualification
- NQF Level 4 Short Term Insurance
- RE5 certification
- FAIS compliant
- Minimum 5 years proven experience in short-term insurance claims and management
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
