About the position
Our client in the consulting engineering firm is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer (Water) with extensive experience in the design of water infrastructure, contract management, quality monitoring, report writing etc. This role is based in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Form part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Civil Engineer (Water): Design of water infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, boreholes, water/wastewater treatment works, reservoirs, control valves etc.
- Preparation of reports for all stages of project implementation, including inception, feasibility/ business plans, concept & viability, design development, tender & procurement, close-out etc.
- Overall contract/project management, including interaction with clients, contractors & other stakeholders, attendance of progress meetings, preparation of payment certificates, dealing with contractual claims etc.
- Management of junior staff, including supervision of drawings, designs, reports etc.
- Preparation of tender documentation, including specification writing, bill of quantities and drawings
- General Client liaison and marketing
Requirements
- Minimum BSc, B Eng. Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum five (5) years practical experience in the design of water infrastructure, contract management, quality monitoring, report writing etc.
- Experience in managing GCC & JBCC Contracts and dealing with claims.
- Experience in compiling reports for all stages of project implementation.
- Experience in grant-funded projects (MIG, WSIG, RBIG etc.).
- Experience in Water/Sanitation master plans, WSDPs, NRW Management Plans advantageous.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D & Wadiso/Epanet.
- Looking to register as a Professional Engineer within the next 24 months.
