An exciting opportunity has become available within the Construction industry, for a Civil Engineer. The position is based in Bellville. We are looking for an enthusiastic Civil Engineer to design, develop and construct a wide range of projects from conception through to completion.

- Proven working experience in civil engineering - municipal services.
- Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar
- Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, regulatory approvals etc.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional registration (advantage)
- BSc/B.Eng. in Civil Engineering or B. Tech
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilities and Duties: Normal duties associated with Civil Engineer in the engineering consulting environment.
- Project Planning and Design: Collaborate with architects and other stakeholders to develop project plans and designs. Prepare feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and site investigations to assess project viability.
- Site Analysis and Survey: Conduct site visits and surveys to assess topography, soil conditions, and environmental factors. Use survey data to inform site development and design decisions.
- Engineering Calculations: Perform calculations related to engineering aspects. Ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory authorities. Ensure that project designs comply with municipal regulations and codes.
- Project Management: Create project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans. Monitor project progress, manage subcontractors, and ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
- Construction Oversight: Address any design-related issues that arise during construction.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment required for projects. Monitor project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Implement risk management plans to minimize project disruptions.
- Environmental Considerations: Evaluate environmental impact assessments and incorporate sustainable design practices.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed project documentation, including drawings, reports, and correspondence. Prepare progress reports and communicate project status to clients and stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure that construction meets design specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Address inquiries and provide updates on project progress.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure project success. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to juniors.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors and senior colleagues that are reasonable within the engineering consulting environment.
