Civil Engineer

About the position

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with around 3 - 5 years experience to join the Mining Infrastructure Department of a consulting engineering firm's Johannesburg office.

Requirements:

• BEng. / BSc. Eng. Civil Engineering or higher qualification
• 3 - 5 years experience
• Above average academic results
• Good fundamental understanding and knowledge of soil mechanics
• Experience in Civil 3D (preferable)

Duties and responsibilities:

• Design of mine infrastructure from concept layouts to detail design
• Design of bulk earthworks, terraces, roads etc.
• Hydrological runoff calculation and water balance modelling
• Water management infrastructure design including dams and canals
• Mine waste disposal facilities and tailings facilities
• Compilation of reports
• Compilation of tender documents, including scope of work, specifications, bills of quantities
• Data analysis, processing and interpretation
• Site visits and investigations, including geotechnical investigations
