About the position
Our client in the consulting engineering industry is seeking a talented and motivated Civil Design Engineer to contribute to the planning, design, and documentation of civil infrastructure projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Lead or contribute to the civil design of infrastructure projects (municipal services, roads, stormwater, sewer, water reticulation, etc.).
- Prepare detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, municipal regulations, and standards (SANS, TMH, Red Book, etc.).
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineers.
- Provide design input during feasibility studies, project planning, and tender documentation phases.
- Assist in mentoring junior staff and contributing to the internal technical knowledge base.
- Participate in site inspections and provide design support during construction when required.
- Engage with clients and attend project meetings as the technical design lead when delegated.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc or BEng).
- Must be registered with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer or Professional Engineer (PrEng).
- Must have 5-10 years' relevant experience in civil infrastructure design.
- Strong design and technical reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other design tools (e.g., Civil Designer, Bentley Open Roads, MS Projects).
- Sound knowledge of design codes and municipal standards.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally.
