About the position

THE OPPORTUNITY
A Senior Specialist Opportunity has arisen in Rosslyn Lion Match Factory Operations for a suitable individual to join the Manufacturing Team as continuous improvement specialist. The Continuous Improvement Manager will report directly to the General Works Manager and will facilitate and manage the entire Continuous Improvement process across the business, in coordination with cross-functional departments.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLES
The primary purpose of the position is to improve factory performance through implementation of best practice tools, techniques and methodologies and creating a culture of continuous improvement across the entire factory organization. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing the Organizations' production, quality and engineering practices and identifying areas that need improvement, as well as impactful improvement opportunities. The incumbent will also project manage the implementation of changes and train staff to increase efficiencies, increase productivity, reduce waste, whilst reducing expenses and maximizing profitability. He/she will work in collaboration with NPD, Procurement, Quality, Operations , Engineering and other departments.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provide methods and tools for improvement of practices; provide tools for measuring and optimizing factory performance.
  • Provide assistance in terms of developing optimum organizational structures.
  • Support optimization of factory complexity, line/machine layout and design; Conduct workload studies as & when required
  • Support tracking and reporting on savings and improvements
  • Run benchmarking internal and external when required
  • Best Practice : lead the implementation of world class best practices in the areas of Maintenance, Focused improvement, Quality, Safety and People Development.
  • Develop and monitor a master plan for roll out of best practices tools and techniques. Coordinate efforts across all functions within the factory
  • Change Management: develop the change plan for the site and support the leadership team in implementation process
  • Stakeholder management: ensure reporting to key stakeholders on progress of implementation programme
  • Training and Coaching of teams from shop floor to senior management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: B Tech/BSc Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical) Degree
  • Minimum 2-3 years first line leadership experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience in world class manufacturing tools and techniques such TPM, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing
  • Experience in FMCG, High speed packaging environments preferred
