Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) and CEO
Location: Johannesburg or Durban
Highly competitive salary per annum depending on qualifications and experience
Business Development Manager would be responsible for identifying and driving new business opportunities to support company's growth strategy across local and international markets. This role ideally requires a knowledge of mining and metals logistics clearing and forwarding
Objectives of this Role
- Implement business development strategies that contribute to sustainable revenue growth.
- Identify new market segments and expand the company's footprint across target geographies.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of high-value prospects across all service offerings.
- Strengthen the company's brand presence and relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless execution of client solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development plans in alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Lead market research efforts to identify potential clients, sectors, and trends.
- Oversee the end-to-end sales cycle including client engagement, proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain a high conversion rate of leads into signed contracts through tailored value propositions.
- Establish and nurture long-term relationships with clients, strategic partners, and industry influencers.
- Track industry developments and competitor activity to inform market positioning.
- Represent company at trade shows, networking events, and client briefings when appropriate
Essentials for the role
- SOUTH AFRICAN WORK PERMIT ESSENTIAL
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field (MBA advantageous).
- Business development experience in logistics, clearing, and forwarding industries specialising in mining and minerals.
- Proven track record of growing key accounts.

- An understanding of freight forwarding, clearing, and logistics operations
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in sales performance tools and CRM systems
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and resilient under pressure
- Ability to travel locally and internationally as required
